This DVD contains all the references to Pink Floyd in the
London 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
I authored it many years ago (probably September/October 2012), but for some
reason never shared it anywhere. I can't remember why, probably because HD was
starting to emerge as a new option, and the 720X480 of the DVD paled in quality
compared even to streaming videos. So I refrained from releasing it and waited
for someone to upload this in HD, but it never happened; and since at the time I
moved onto other things, this DVD remained buried in oblivion for many years.
Besides, it has the most horrible menu I've ever designed. I think it is
possible that the subtitles contain mistakes too.
Recently I was organizing my files, found this, and decided to share the
authored DVD, along with the original source files. So, not a DVD I'm proud of,
but thought someone may like to have it. Besides, I think the files are quite
worthwhile for Pink Floyd completists and collectors.
Notes:
The Cauldron/Eclipse segment uses CTV's video, but BBC's audio. This because the
BBC video I found was of lower quality, but the audio was clean. The CTV video
was of a better quality, but had the comentator's voices overlapping with the
song.
At that time those were the only two sources I had to asemble this DVD. Years
after I authored this DVD I later found a much better quality video source.
The Izbasa segments include a bit of the aftermath to provide context:
She was one of the greatest European gymnasts at the time.
She won gold at Vault in this Olympics.
On her Team participation she performs flawlessly on the floor (using Shine on
You Crazy Diamond as BG music) helping Romania to win Bronze.
On the Individual performance, she qualified second to the finals, and was the
last one to go to the floor. She was the only serious contender for gold against
the girl who classified above her. She performs exactly the same routine (with
SOYCD), but makes a terrible mistake in the very end, and instead of 1st, she
finishes 8th.
