Rockestra Theme Recording Sessions

On 27 February 1980, Paul McCartney's work on
"Rockestra Theme" was rewarded with a Grammy Award of the best instrumental
rock performance. This tape presents the MPL documentary that was filmed
upon the studio production of this song at October 3rd 1978 at Abbey
Road Studio 2. The idea of Paul was to fix up a kind of
musical match between a classical orchestra, and rock band. Paul gathers
some well-known musicians around him to set up this huge orchestra. Among
them ware Pete Townshend, Kenny Jones and Ronnie Lanes, Hank Marvin, John
Bonham and John Paul Jones, Gary Brooker, Bruce Thomas and David Gilmour. Anothr song of the Back To The Egg - album - "So Glad To See You Here" - was recorded on the some day as "Rockestra Theme" with the contribution of the whole Rockestra band. |
