Ruby Takes A Trip!
Data: 1991 |
Ruby Wax is feeling dreadful. The strain and
stress of being a major celebrity has taken it's toll. It's time to get back
to basics and find her "inner self". |
Hello, all!
I started authoring DVDs a while ago ¾ essentially just trying to edit together
some of my favorite film clips from various VHS tapes ¾ to save the hassle of
hunting them down, fast forwarding / rewinding, etc. And ù it evolved into a
groovy way of sharing Floyd films (and other such things) without the hassle and
generational loss of VHS copies. After joining FloydArtifacts and this lovely
group, my humble disks became a source of real satisfaction for me. It is
incredible how much support ¾ by providing source materials, technical support,
distribution, and cover art ¾ I have received by folks around the globe. Through
the collaborative effort of really wonderful folks, the disks began to take on
more of a life of their own.. Theyåve become ôreleasesö.
And, with that in mind, I am very pleased to be able to tell you that there are
several releases ôin the canö poised to be unleashed.
The first of these is a film called Ruby Takes A Trip from 1991. The soundtrack
music was ôwritten and producedö by Mr. David Gilmour. The music has appeared on
a few audio RoIO releases. However, the film itself has simply not circulatedù..
until now, that is. It turns out that Jon Rosenberg, a pillar in the Pink Floyd
community & a genuinely nice guy as well, happened to see a listing for the film
on A&E back in the early 90s. He set his VCR to record the show. The rest ù is
history.
This film is a look at a bunch of ù well, rather silly people who take
themselves entirely too seriously. Whether their delusions are a con-job or
genuine bewilderment is rather difficult to tell. But, Ruby is depressed and in
need of a quick-fix to her general spiritual malaise. So, she gives everybody a
chance to impress.
In addition to the film, I have added a few other goodies in a special ôBonusö
section. These also came from Mr. Rosenbergås VHS tape. Although they donåt
really fit with the film as such, it was all the excuse that I needed to include
them.
I always thought that the band did so many soundtracks toward the beginning of
their career because 1) It was paying work and 2) It gave them a little needed
exposure. But, what is really odd is that in around 1991 Mr. Gilmour and, to a
lesser extent, Mr. Mason & Mr. Wright, did numerous soundtracks. (ie: La Carrera
Panamericana, Ruby Takes A Trip, Colors Of Infinity, Art Of Tripping) And, this
was pretty soon after the mega-tour of 1988 / 1989ù exactly when Iåd have
thought they would want to take a rest.
Two of these four films have been released, officially and otherwise. The other
two ù well, not so much. Itås been 13 years or thereaboutsù So, itås time.
Although they are not particularly earth-shattering, musically speaking, they
are fun in their own right.
I hope that you enjoy the film. Please share some love with Mr. Hutchison and Mr.
Rosenberg for their assistance.
There are a few nice folks out there who have volunteered to help me get this
weed started properly. So, if you donåt get a copy from me, please be patient
for a day or two. There should be other offers soon. The cover art is complete.
I would be happy to email it to whoever needs it. I believe that it will soon be
transferred to the ôfilesö section of this yahoo group.
