Notes:
This is the single cam recording I made of the Roger
Waters concert The Wall, performed in the Gelredome, Arnhem, The Netherlands on
April 8th 2011.
I filmed the complete show. My position is on the front rail (in golden circle)
on the right side. Being at the side, sometimes some views are partially blocked,
but I tried to capture it as best I could. I used a Panasonic DMC-TZ7. Being a
pocketcamera it can only film 15 minutes max at a time. So sometimes a few
seconds are missing which is me stopping and starting again. I tried to smoothen
that out as much as possible in the DVD.
I uploaded this to my youtube channel, but got a lot of request to make it
available in DVD. So I took this oppertunity to learn how to create, edit and
author DVD's. I decided to do it with only my material; video, audio and
pictures. Although there are other audio sources out there, I was content with
my source and tweaked it a little to make it more to my liking. I'm no expert,
so I went by what sounded best to me. Although I'm sure others may do a better
job, Im still quite happy with the end result of my first DVD.
I've watched some clips on youtube and I think the
big difference between my recording and most out there is that this is filmed
from up close. Which sometimes makes it difficult to see the grand scale of this,
but you can see really well what goes on, on stage. I've heard a lot of people
complain that the stage was too low and many people on the field were not able
to see what was going on on stage. So this will certainly provide in that
respect.
On a personal note, for me it's a dream come true. I've been to my fair share of
big concerts, but The Wall was always the mythical concert from way back, which
I could only enjoy in audio or (poor) video. But now I was able to see it live
from the man himself and I thank Roger for this awesome show.
