No matter how much you can plan, there's always something that'll come up unexpectedly. In this case, it was the traffic around the pavilion, causing me to not make it to my seat before the show started. I missed the opening band (no biggie) but if it was Roger who started at 8:00 I would have missed a lot more!
IMHO this is not bad for an amateur recording setup: Sony TCM-86V w/ Aiwa Stereo One Point Mic > XLII-S > Nak BX300 > Sony RCD-W1 > Roxio Creator Classic PCM 44.100 kHz 16 Bit Stereo > GoldWave Joining & Fades > Wave Corrector 8dB Hiss Reduction, -1 dB Normalization, Channel Balance & Track Splitting > dBpowerAMP Music Converter FLAC Compression Level 8. I expect more recorders to show up from this venue like last time in 2000.
At one point the aisle guard leaned into our row and asked the guy sitting next to me to put out his cigarette. This was right in front of me with my mic clipped to my hat! It must be stealthier than I think... At another point I dropped the entire setup, sorry about that all! Here and there there's some crackle, probably from my input jack moving around.
I had great seats just to the right of the soundboard. The screen on the right was slightly obscured by a pole, but the sound was fantastic! If I had to say something negative, it would be that it was a bit too loud on the ears... The recording sounds OK to me though. See for yourself.
