Notes: An awesome Roger Waters show from Philly on June 2nd,
2007. I recorded the show on a Nady-SP5 Microphone. For some reason the
recording sounds distant even though I was sitting in section 102 which is
relatively close the stage. Overall, the sound quality is pretty good.
Unfortunately, there is some chatter from the couple sitting in front of me. I
couldn't hear them at the time of the show or i would have moved the mic. The
Philly crowd does tend to get a bit loud at parts - we're known for that :) -
but nothing too intrusive. If anything it helps to add to the atmosphere of the
show for listeners.
As for the recording itself there was a slight problem at the end of "In the
Flesh" which is why there is a fade. There is also a cut in the beginning of "Perfect
sense" but is hardly even noticeable. I was on the end of the row so at the
beginning of each disc there was a lot of movement which infringed on the
recording. I used Audacity to boost the sound level and take out a high pitched
ring found on the master minidisc. For some reason the recording only came in
through the mic on one channel which is why it is in mono. No other changes were
made.
It was a great show from Roger as well. The amount of passion he put into every
song was astounding. The band was also on fire. It really looked like they
enjoyed playing in Philly. A Bubble machine was used during "Set the
controls..." and an inflatable spaceman floated around during "Perfect Sense." I
like the way Roger plays to the crowd on this song. The flames during "Sheep"
were behind the band rather then in front and the Pig was more colorful then it
usual was on the tour. Roger also added confetti which came down from the roof
during "Sheep." One of the coolest things I ever saw at a concert was the
rotating Prism which hung from the arena ceiling and shot out a flat laser-beam
of rainbow light over the crowd as it rotated during "Eclipse." The light show
and explosions were the same as other shows from the same tour. All in all it
was a fantastic show. Hope this gives you a little bit of an idea of what was
going on while you listen.
