Notes: This is the first show of the year for my wife and I,
and we were very excited to see it; thanks to all of the Dime members in Europe
who uploaded
their Nick/SOS recordings last fall, as it made me very interested in seeing
this once it made it to my neck of the world. What a terrific idea, too - as
Gary Kemp says at one point, Nick is truly the heartbeat of Pink Floyd and it
was a special treat to see all these rarely (if ever) performed early Floyd
songs. My wife saw Pink Floyd back in '88 and we've seen Roger Waters a couple
of times (so, she's seen all four post-Syd Floyd members, if not together), but,
I missed the Floyd Denver-area shows as I was stuck on my "no Roger, no Pink"
snobbery. I was so young and foolish. Needless to say, I'm glad I caught this
show.
We sat dead center, about 5 rows behind the soundboard, so, the sound is pretty
good, though, it's a bit on the quiet side when Nick speaks (I manually set my
recording levels and did only minimal limiting of loud claps). There were the
typical drunkards in the audience (one guy got dragged out by security late in
the show), though, the people near us were quiet and respectful of the music.
Overall, this was a splendid show - if you're collecting the tour or otherwise
are an early Pink Floyd fan, this is a worthy listen.
Finally: please don't sell the recording, but, otherwise, do with it what you
wish. Share it and trade it, and remember: these and other greats will not be
around forever, so, let's enjoy them while we have them. Best wishes to all of
