This was recorded using two iPhones using RetroRecorder. One
of the iPhones had tape over the mic to limit overload, the other didn't. The
app records to a mono .wav file.
I then used Adobe Audition to convert the result files to stereo, then mixed
them together and adjusted the EQ a little on each until I got something I
thought sounded pretty good.
The show itself was fantastic, and exceeded my expectations. For the first of my
three times seeing Waters perform live it didn't just feel like a Pink Floyd
cover band. The performances on Dogs and Pigs in particular were exquisite.
I had quite a few talky people around me but they don't come through on the
recording too much. The worst were a couple of really pissed girls to my right
but they don't spoil the show too much until the point where Waters is doing the
band intros, at which time they reached their most obnoxious and were finally
given the shut-the-fuck-up call. After which they fortunately did not spoil the
rare performance of Wait For Her which followed at all.
Those two are one of the reasons why you might want to skip that part of the
show - the other is that between farewelling a couple of crew members,
introducing the band and introducing the song, Waters managed to talk for about
8 minutes and I for one don't really need to listen through that every time. But
that's up to you - that part is here for you, personally I'll be skipping it on
my own version of the show.
