Notes:
Held on to my source for quite some time looking for another which could fill
the gaps. Sorry! Eight months had passed and quite by luck, I stumbled across
our source 2! Our other taper posted his recording of Van Halen, who just played
here in December 2007. A few posts prevailed back and forth about the VH show
until one intrepid person asked if the taper recorded Roger in June prior. As it
turns out, he did, so the long wait ended!
A few emails and a meeting shortly afterwards, we exchanged our recordings. The
end result of this effort will be each of our own sources, plus a matrix
representing the best of both! Our title is a nice play on words, BTW. For those
non-Canadians, our dollar coin is (unofficially) termed a "loonie" since it has
a waterfowl bird on it (a "loon"). We also have a two dollar coin (the "toonie").
I figure that each of the tapers are a bit strange in their own right, so that
angle works. Each source is great but the sum of the two is better. The tie ins
to the Floyd and "Money" is another side. As deep as the fabled "Publius
Enigma"!
The transitions between sources are minimal and are done reasonably well. Things
should be level matched...so apart from a different perspective in recording,
the end result is decent. I didn't spend weeks doing it or obsessed too much,
FYI. Everything is Source 1 unless noted below.
A final note on the comments Roger gives. He only confirms the fact that we all
know...Canadian audiences are the best on this side of the pond!
Thanks:
Moonwall...great artwork as always to finish the package!
All my friends across the world who I chat with who continue to keep the Floyd
spirit alive!
All the people that make YEESHKUL!, PINKROIOSHN, and IFWT possible...so we can
enjoy these recordings
Legal Notes:
None really, just don't *EVER* convert to any lossy format and distribute wildly.
Convert so you can listen on your portable music player of choice if needed, but
only spread the original FLAC files to others who want the show. I have spent
far too much time trying to root out MP3 garbage from my collection so let's all
play nice, ok?
I also do not really care if you need to toy with the files in any way, but
again, for your own personal use only and not to be released into the wild.
A Last Rant:
Some have accused RW of lip-synching in his shows. Fairly easy to prove now that
we all have copies of pretty much every show, but who cares? He could play the
pan flute and I would gladly see him and the band do their thing. He has nothing
to prove in my mind 8-)...
A Plea:
If *anybody* is sitting on the Pink Floyd show at Commonwealth Stadium here in
Edmonton (June 28, 1994), then please release it! Alas, I went but did not
record it...
Also...there has to be sources for Roger's June 23, 2007 show in Calgary and
June 27, 2007 show in Winnipeg. In fact, all sources should be released...no
hoarding! Liberate all shows!
(Whew!)
*That's it!...Enjoy!*
