Welcome to Beset By Creatures From The Deep, the second
tribute album made by the group of guys collectively known as Massed Gadgets.
After our first effort, Pseudo, we decided that with better equipmen we could do
a much better job. So after the purchase of a Yamaha 4 track and Tascam 8 track
recorders, we embarked on the making of this album. Our goal was to be more true
to the Floyd's work than before (the previous album had a lot of acoustic
versions and stripped down stuff, plus a lack of appropriate keyboards). We
decided to do a career spanning tribute, including at least one song from nearly
every album. The only exceptions to this are Piper At The Gates Of Dawn and
Animals. The reasons for this are this: on Pseudo we did Pigs On The Wing, so
that was out; we were already including Shine On in its entirety, so another
epic like Dogs was out; I had no talkbox, so no Pigs, and our keyboards werent
up to the task on doing Sheep. Sorry, Animals fans. As far as Piper, we went one
better, including One In A Million, a pre-Piper era song never recorded by the
Floyd. This is, therefore the only studio version of it.
Recorded between 2/96 and 8/96 on 8 track with final overdubs done in 12/07 and
mixed down directly to videotape and DAT for superior signal to noise ratio than
regular tape (2007 overdubs recorded directly into PC). The masters for this
languished on my shelf for years, but I've finally gotten around to assembling
this thing. Mastered with Adobe Audition 1.5.
This is not a band, but rather a group of musicians who each played what they
were best suited for on each song. The group includes John Peace, Justin Eulrich,
Lance Drake, Brian Ubeler, Bryan Tallmadge, and Molly Szymula. tracklist and
