End of last year I heard the shocking news that Kultiplex will be demolished due to some Hotel development in the 9th District of Budapest. The ownership of the venue is by the local authorities, who sold some other land for a hotel group. In order to keep the flora on the required level in the discrict they made the decision to demolish Kultiplex and build a park on its place. Organisers and civils started to protest and organised a free festival from January until 23th of February.
Original plans did not include Echoes of Pink Floyd in the festival, but all of the sudden the festival was extended with a week. Unfortunatelly the last week could not be finished, because the local authorities raid the building on Friday with a security group and still refuse any entrace to the building.
EOPF played to a small, but very enthusiastic audience on Tuesday night. The psychedelic encores were not planned, the crowd requested Careful and later required an extra encore which was a fine renderation of Saucerful of Secret. My rig was in front of the board and sound mixer started to take apart the mixer console cabels, this is the reason the begining of SOS the sound is so quite.
Kultiplex was a cinema and a nice concert hall and one of the last Bauhaus buildings in Budapest. One of my favorite taping location. You will understand when you hear this recording. Imho this is one of the finest I could pull recently.
