I was standing a little right to the stage, about 6 meters
away. Mike hight at about 1,60 meters. Gain was set at + 14.0 dB, auto
correction (live) Minor clipping occured as a result of loud applause next to
me.
MASTERING PROCES
I started out with some volume corrections, including clipping & peaking
correction. The next step was to eliminate the clippings that occured from loud
claps made
by the person(s) standing next to me.Then I boosted the passages of talking in
between the tracks and the passages in which the music was a little too soft.
The microphone I used picks up the bass, but it was too low. So in a few steps I
gave some boost to the lower freqencies. Finally I evened out the sound to
produce a listenable recording with not too much hard or low passages, but
keeping the dynamics of the recording in tact.
The complete file was split in two discs and tracks were split at sector
boundaries. Finally I made the FLAC's, that I tagged for convienent playback on
compatible systems.
NOTE: in the set there was a 15 minute break after Evergreen. I made the disc
split after the next track, to that the discs are more evenly spread.
THE CONCERT
There were a couple of hundred people present at the Kleine Zaal of the 013
venue. It was an intimate concert and the band was enjoying it. No people were
singing loud near me so the recording came out quite well. The only noticable
things are people moving in front of me and I had to reposition sometimes. It
slightly affects the sound, but not disturbingly to my ears. In the first song
the band is plagued by a wire not being properly conncected. And some noises
appear later on. I tried to reduce them, so your ears don't get hammered ;)
The setlist focused on the new album, with eight tracks played from that. It was
nice to hear some songs from the bonus album being played live. It shows that
although it is a bonus album they take all their material seriously.
