50th anniversary tour
Taped by Maciej Krawczyk
A detailed and careful mastering is applied, resulting of superb full
dimensional stereo audience recording. Taped from the 2nd row, just in the face
of the group, recording shares only minor distance but due to surprisingly heavy
security that looked for anyone recording the show, the recorder was
re-positioned on the floor what caused of some blurred bottom line and
occasional bumps and scraping sounds. A much of EQ was applied, using Izotope to
increase top end and to emaculate bottom line. There were some parts of
recording, which were exclusively removed to provide more compact listening -
this was mainly used for a very long start of the show as group was late for
about 20 minutes and lots of music played from the PA system and occasional
clapping have been shortened to create an intimate and easy-to-consume start of
the show.
The show itself was a good one, focusing on
repertoire from group's earlier albums. However, the absence of original members
of the band resulting of a cold feeling it's just a solo project as Jethro
Tull's long time member and co-author of many songs, Martin Barre, wasn't
invited and has been completely ignored through out the show while many of his
compositions are performed here. What a shame...
It's also worth to note that the show had its
appearance on Poland's 100th Independence Day anniversary. This was also the
very first show performed in Lublin, a city that is known for its cultural
habits, but which hadn't a chance to host too many notable music acts yet.
Let'as hope this was a good starter and beginning of something new.
