I stood directly behind the soundboard, at the base of
the stairs. I had to end up using my awesome new
little camera tripod (Gorilla Grip) with magnetic feet. The magnets are super
strong and affective. I was unable to make my way upstairs to get a clear shot.
The camera ended up hanging on the outside hand rail. It had a super clear shot,
but unfortunatley vibrated quite a little bit from
the bass. I was expecting Some distortion from the
bass, but Nothing! The audio here is Super Clean, I Think. The only
downfall is that the bass seems to come and go. No
distortion, but when they are jamming heavy the bass
drops away. When they are in low jam mode, the
bass is full and sound over all is fuller and richer. The
band must have had problems with their CD player for
the sound bite intros used during begining of the
show. Speak To Me, Time, and Welcome To The Machine
each had problems. I was using the remote control for the camera and
accidentally cut the recorder off twice, once in the middle
of Time and once at the opener for Sorrow. I turned
it back on as quick as possible. And I apparently
didn't charge my New Extended Life battery, cause it died towards
the end of Shine On. I replaced the first battery into the
Zi8 to get a bit more music if I could. There wasn't much battery power left so
I got Comfortably Numb. I now regret not keeping it out for the Encores. Bike
would have been nice to have.
The Obscured By Clouds and When You're In was worth
the ride to and from Charlotte to Raleigh. That was
my favorite jam of the night. One Slip was also great to hear. They have pulled
a few new songs out for themselves this year. I was
major pleased!
The bonus footage was recorded at the Visulite
Theatre in Charlotte, NC on Jan. 13, 2010. Captured by my Droid set to high
quality.
